Happy Sunday! I hope you had a great week. Or just a week if it wasn’t great! If you had a week like mine you were either up in the clouds or down in the dumps and it doesn’t feel like there is an in-between sometimes!
I had a weird schedule at the salon this week, it was either super busy or nothing!! Which, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all my clients, and I am lucky enough to have another part time job I can do remotely from home so if I’m not busy at the salon, I can do that. But I’m not the type of person who can just be… I need to be doing something at least 80% of the time! I had a client ask me a couple weeks ago if I would be interested in doing hair at one of our local nursing homes and I said, ” let me think about it, that might be fun!” They lost their last “beautician” last October and haven’t had anyone since then. It seemed like fun (i love “old” people) and I currently have the time in my schedule to go a few hours a week and do that for them! So I discussed with my husband and he agreed that it would be a great fit for me. So now I have 3 jobs, well, 3 “part-time”ish jobs… lol… so maybe that equals at least 1 full time job?! Who knows! All I know is, I get to help those people to feel better and that holds a special place in my heart.
I had the strong feeling this week that I need to cast my cares on the Lord. I’ve been listening to some audio books and even started a new 5-min Study Journal on how to live a less stressed life. Who doesn’t want that? It gives you a bible verse to read and figure out how you can adapt that into your everyday life. Which is great if you remember to do it everyday. But like everything else it seems, I do well for a coulple days, then don’t have time, or forget and before I know it, it’s been a week since I did it last.
I think right now for me that is my biggest care.. spending more time with Him. How can I be my best self? The best mom, wife, daughter, etc. if I can’t remember to pick up my 5-min study journal every day!
It’s like diet and exercise for me… I do great for a week or 2, then we have a birthday party, or date night or something that happens and I fall right off that wagon!! And eventually I get back on but it may take a couple days/weeks!! So how do we live a less stressed life? Give all our worries to God! Seems easy enough, right?
I think like anything when we are starting new, we need to focus on that first! Then it’s done, out of the way and you can go on with your day! Pray first, give your worries to him, then you have a less stressed, worry free day! Workout! Then that’s done and out of the way and you can focus on making supper for your family and spending time with them in the evening. Eat a healthy breakfast, then at least the 1st meal of the day you got in some nutrients if you fall off that wagon throughout the day!
Lets normalize making time for ourselves first thing! Before anyone else. Whether you have to get up early before anyone else, or wait for kids to be at school! Then you can start to be the best version of you, not the “try it and find out version” but the “Jesus Take the Wheel version”.
