Do you ever start thinking to yourself that your life has been going so well lately? Like, maybe almost too well? Don’t get me wrong, I’m very blessed! Blessed beyond measure you might say but every now and then I hit a point where I think to myself gosh, things have been going really well lately, what’s going to give? Or fall through the cracks? You know it’s coming right?
That happened to me this week. As I’ve said before, my husband owns a business in our small town in Iowa and I’m his Office Manager. Of course it’s tax time and doing taxes for a business a little more stressful than doing our own personal taxes, especially when I am not “mathematically inclined”. Well, after talking with our accountant I need to make some changes to our accounting and this is what seems to have started the ball rolling.
It seems that after one thing like his happens, something else is not far behind, and I don’t know about you but I know for myself that my head goes to a different place after that and I can’t focus. I forget half of my grocery list, or forget to grab a prescription at the pharmacy and by the time you remember it’s too late! But how do we get ourselves out of this rut? Do you give yourself extra grace these days? Everyone has a bad day here and there and not everyone beats themselves up about it do they? Or do we all end up in the candy isle at the grocery store stocking up? I know I do!!
I think for me the easiest thing to do is nothing. I feel all the feelings! I cry, I may go lay down. Go do something to get your mind off everything! Go for a walk, a bike ride, read a book! Go eat the cheeseburger you’ve been putting off until the weekend! Or the ice-cream you’ve been wanting all week! Give yourself grace mama because tomorrow is a new day and His mercies are new EVERYDAY! So eat what you want, read a book and lay out side in the sun for an hour! Relax and start again tomorrow with a renewed mind and tell yourself it’s going to be a good day! We’re all in this together!
